HGV Technician

Location: Biggleswade

Salary: Up to £57,408 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Shift: Mon – Thurs / Tues – Fri (6am to 6pm)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy and established workshop based in Biggleswade.

The Role:

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing a varied fleet of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring all vehicles are kept in excellent working condition and meet all required safety and compliance standards.

Your duties will include:

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine servicing on HGVs.

Completing inspections, maintenance and mechanical repairs across the fleet.

Diagnosing faults using diagnostic equipment and identifying the best course of action.

Carrying out mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs where required.

Investigating and rectifying vehicle defects to minimise downtime.

Completing brake, suspension, steering and engine-related repairs.

Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections and ensuring they meet roadworthiness requirements.

Carrying out vehicle safety checks and identifying any potential issues.

Accurately completing job sheets, service records and maintenance documentation.

Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures and industry regulations.

Working collaboratively with the wider workshop team to keep the fleet operating efficiently.

Working Hours:

A rotating two-week shift pattern:

Week 1: Tuesday – Friday, 06:00 – 18:00.

Week 2: Wednesday – Saturday, 06:00 – 18:00.

The Ideal Candidate:

Previous experience working as an HGV Technician.

Must have the right to work in the UK

Strong knowledge of HGV servicing, maintenance and repairs.

Confident using diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults.

Good understanding of vehicle safety and compliance requirements.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.
